Ikwezi Lead Teacher Project, Phase 2b: Teacher Training for Metro East Education District, 2014

Saturday, July 19, 2014 - 08:30

Basic Concepts Programme offered as a UCT short course

The training is for 32 Grade R and Grade 1 teachers from 7 schools in Metro East Education District, WCED.

Dates: 17 May + 7 June + 19 July 2014

Venue: The Cape Teaching Institute (CTLI)

Times: 9h00-16h00

‘BCP is foundational to a child's learning. It is the building blocks on which all other concepts are built. A concept needs to be fully understood by a child before a new concept can be taught. We often rush children's learning due to time constraints which is not correct.’ (KIDZPOSITIVE, Occupational Therapist, 2011)

Thinking Stars: Teacher Feedback From Training, August 2014

‘It is an excellent programme. Just a pity that not all reception year educators are exposed to the training. My understanding of the programme- it is developed to systematically mediate concepts so that learners are guided to develop an understanding and so that learning is meaningful.’ (Metro Central, 2012)

Training Feedback

I realized that if one lays down a solid foundation for your learners they will become self-assured and confident human beings.
