Description
Project Bridges provides at-risk Grade R learners with targeted cognitive enrichment through the Basic Concepts Programme while building meaningful partnerships between schools from different contexts.
Its dual aim is to strengthen children’s learning readiness and foster shared purpose, equity, and collaboration across school communities.
Evaluation
Project Bridges will be evaluated by examining the extent to which it strengthens Grade R learners’ conceptual readiness for formal schooling while fostering professional connection, shared understanding, and pedagogical growth across socially diverse school communities.
Data will be gathered primarily through qualitative sources — including teacher reflection logs, cross-school collaboration notes, and guided narrative accounts of learning — alongside targeted quantitative measures that assess learner progress and readiness for Grade 1.
Given the developmental variability of young learners at the start of the year, formal learner assessments will be collected only midway and postline to provide a more accurate picture of growth during the intervention period.
