Metro East Focus Schools Project - End of Year Teacher Feedback (2025)

Teacher Feedback - Year 1

We’ve wrapped up the first year of the project with our dedicated teachers and district officials from Metro East.

After completing their training and receiving ongoing support throughout the year, teachers were invited to share their experiences.

We were delighted to receive thoughtful feedback from 70% of participants.

Overall Sentiment: Strongly Positive

Teachers reported very positive feelings about the BCP, with an impressive average rating of 4.32 and the vast majority scoring it 4 or 5.

Growing Familiarity with the Concept Teaching Model (CTM)

Familiarity with the 6 steps is strong across the board: 100% are at least moderately familiar, and the majority rate themselves at the higher end.

 Significant Professional Benefit

Nearly all teachers (over 90%) report that the BCP has already benefited them, with almost half experiencing significant impact. Only a small minority remain unsure or have not yet felt the benefits.

What teachers are saying about the BCP

 1. Supporting Struggling Learners

The BCP approach gives learners with barriers a way in—offering clearer pathways to understand maths concepts and helping those who usually slip through the cracks.

2. Strengthening Teaching Practice

Teachers report a sharper grasp of core concepts and a clearer method for introducing them. Many have fully integrated the six-step model into their daily teaching.

3. Boosting Learner Engagement and Language

Lessons are more enjoyable and interactive, leading to richer vocabulary, better descriptions, and stronger communication from learners.

4. Building Conceptual Foundations

The programme strengthens understanding of key early-learning concepts such as size, shape, position, colour, and even letter–sound links.

5. Developing New Skills and Confidence

Teachers feel equipped with new strategies and a fresh mindset—especially the value of starting from the basics to build solid understanding.

Summary of findings

The feedback shows that teachers are not only benefiting from the BCP but are actively integrating it into their daily practice, with clear gains in learner engagement, conceptual understanding, and support for struggling learners. Their growing confidence with the six-step model and the strong positive impact they report suggest that the foundation is solid. Next year’s support can now focus on deepening mastery, strengthening consistency across classrooms, and expanding teachers’ capacity to apply the approach flexibly. With targeted coaching, these teachers are well-positioned to accelerate learner progress even further.
