Learning Support Educators (LSEs) in the Metro were trained to mentor and support 75 newly trained teacher-mediators in Grade 1.
Follow up visit to teachers in Circuit 1
The BCP is one of five components of the Ikwezi Project. External evaluation of the Ikwezi Project by JCM Research and Evaluation Services found that:-
A majority (69%) of learners who participated in the BCP in 2011 in Grade R were found to be prepared for learning in Grade 1 in 2012 - See image below.
Teachers' compliance with this project was extraordinary (95%), and the quality and dedication of the educators was most impressive.
