Social Media Post #164: Concept Builders Has Started

Introducing Concept Builders — now in action at Holy Cross Primary School.

Basic Concepts Foundation has launched its first school-based Concept Builders intervention in Cape Town, working with approximately 14 learners across two small groups over 18 sessions and 8 weeks.

The intervention focuses on strengthening the language, conceptual understanding and thinking processes that underpin learning.

Concept Builders is designed to complement, not replace, our work with teachers through the Basic Concepts Programme. Direct learner intervention gives us an opportunity to deepen our expertise, learn from practice and use those insights to strengthen our support for teachers and schools.

Holy Cross is the beginning. We hope to make Concept Builders available to more schools and learners across Cape Town as the work develops.
