The training session received an excellent overall rating of 4.87 out of 5, with 91% of participants awarding the session the highest possible score.
Main Themes from Teachers' about Number:

Foundational number concepts – Understanding number and developing more/less and comparing as the foundation for number learning.

Addition and subtraction – Learning how to introduce and mediate putting together, taking away, addition, subtraction and equal using concrete materials.

Concrete, hands-on learning – Using counters and practical activities to move learners from concrete experiences towards more abstract number concepts, while making counting and calculation enjoyable.
- Mediation and lesson planning – Developing teachers' ability to introduce number concepts appropriately, complete session planners, and work patiently and intentionally with learners experiencing barriers.
Teacher Comments
The teachers were overwhelmingly positive about the Number session, describing it as informative, educational, fruitful, understandable and motivating, with several noting its particular value for learners who struggle with mathematics. They also appreciated its practical relevance to their classroom work and its alignment with CAPS.
