It is a method of teaching…to establish the basic foundations or building blocks in order for children to make sense of the environment around them.

Die Bron Primary School: Visit 1

Presentation was well organized and clear. The lecturer explained extensively about the content of the course. The programme should be implemented by all Foundation Phase teachers and be recognized by government. The BCP is CAPS aligned.

Schools Improvement Initiative, UCT (June 2013)

The emphasis on language throughout the programme helps to develop learners' understanding of concepts and expand their vocabulary. The BCP stops learners from guessing, it gives them more structure and develops their cognitive functioning.
