Ikwezi Project

Teacher training over the years (2010-2012) has been hands-on and engaging. Teachers have become familiar with the BCP training motto: "Show one, do one!"

 Some comments from teachers after completing training in 2010:-

'We need to give them (the learners) an opportunity to teach us e.g. ask questions in order for you to know how much the kids know. By doing that you are engaging them (the learners)… you are giving them an opportunity to speak.'

'The Basic Concepts is a way to … help children and not teach them … so that they can think and know the meaning.'

Training Feedback

‘BCP is foundational to a child's learning. It is the building blocks on which all other concepts are built. A concept needs to be fully understood by a child before a new concept can be taught. I understand how I can assist my learners who need intervention. The BCP will boost the self-esteem and knowledge of weak learners. It definitely helps me to guide my learners, using the correct language applicable to the situation.

Metro South Education District: Training (January, 2013)

The BCP is about the way we talk to the children in class and how we give lessons in class. How we should introduce a topic to the children and mediate with them.
